Addiction Medicine Services
Addiction Medicine specialists are physicians who hold board certification in a primary specialty such as family medicine or internal medicine and subspecialty certification in addiction medicine. We provide prevention, screening, intervention, and treatment for individuals with substance use disorders. Addiction Medicine specialists can diagnose and treat the psychological and physical complications of addiction and can provide ongoing support for recovery and relapse prevention. In addition, we offer rapid, discreet and comprehensive management of employees, DWIs and treatment court evaluations.
UBMD Primary Care’s Addiction Medicine Clinic offers clinical evaluation in an outpatient setting. We offer a full range of medication treatment and management and along with your primary care and behavioral health providers, act as a treatment collaborator.

We are happy to partner with Erie County Medical Center (ECMC) to provide services in the hospital’s Withdrawal & Stabilization Unit (WSU). The WSU is staffed by attending physicians, a clinical manager and nurse practitioners/physician assistants. Our WSU clinical providers work as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide treatment and stabilization of patients with substance use disorders with a focus on medication assisted treatment and strategies for long-term recovery.
We also treat patients at additional locations around Western New York: BestSelf Behavioral Health, DART Program and Endeavor Health.
